President of the Ukrainian Association of the Club of Rome Victor Halasiuk presented report “Great Economic Reversal” at Bergen University (Norway) at an international seminar, dedicated to uneven economic development. The idea of economic activities differentiation as a source of economic development is gaining more and more recognition in the scientific community.
Synthesizing the achievements of the German History School, the fundamental approach of prof. Rainert and the latest empirical research by prof. Hausmann (Harvard University) and Hidalgo (MIT), V. Halasiuk revealed the mechanism of purposeful acceleration of economic growth through the transformation of the production structure of the economy. The report sparked a lively debate, including the cases of Ukraine’s successful application of protectionist industrial policy with rounded timber and sunflower seeds.
